Chichester Harbour Photo Competition
All photographers are invited to get snapping this summer. The theme for this year's competition is 'People and Places in Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'.
Photographs are invited from all areas within the harbourside which capture any aspect, occupation or pastime which shows the importance of the area is for rest, relaxation and sport.

The Harbour Working Boats Festival (Fri 18th) is our biggest event of the year. Around 20 boats will be alongside the public jetty at Itchenor including Terror, the Sussex Sea Fisheries boat, the beautifully restored Ocean Pearl, Sir James Scott the Hampshire Police patrol boat and lots more. You will have the opportunity to go onboard all the boats and meet the crew. In addition there will be an art exhibition, information stalls, refreshments and a quiz. Please come along and support this day out for all the family.

Sat 12 April Northney Explorer
10:00 2 hours
A 4 ½ mile (7.5 km) walk from Langstone over the Hayling Island bridge to explore the Northney countryside and shoreline. Perhaps stay on for a drink at the pub afterwards. Paths may be muddy. Meet: free public car park on the shoreline next to The Ship pub, Langstone, just before Hayling road bridge.

Mon 14 April Animal Orienteering: Family Fun
10:00 1½ hours
Explore harbour woodland and shoreline to find all the animal-themed marker boards. Prizes for completion. £1 per person on the day. Dogs welcome on leads. Meet: free Visitors' Car Park to Chichester Marina, signposted two miles south of Chichester on the A286 Witterings Road. Please be prompt as we will then drive via the barrier to park by the shoreline.
Tue 15 April Egg and Shell Hunt: Family Fun
14.30 2 hours
Learn about harbour babies, hunt for shells and look for clues to answer a harbour-themed quiz to win chocolate egg prizes. Dress to get muddy and bring a small bucket for your finds. No dogs please. BOOKING ESSENTIAL, £3 per head to include refreshments and prizes. Meet: Harbour Education Centre, Dell Quay. Roadside parking.
Fri 18 April Harbour Working Boats Festival
10:30 2 hours
A special opportunity to see and meet the many different boats and their crews that work in Chichester Harbour. On display will be the Conservancy's fast patrol boats and the big mooring barge, solar boat and oyster boat Terror as well as vessels from organisations such as the RNLI, Hampshire Police, and harbour-based charter yachts. The event is based on the public jetty: all children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Care must be taken on the jetty and in boarding the boats. The number of people on the jetty will be controlled.
Meet: public jetty next to the launch hard, Itchenor. Parking in village pay and display car park.
Sat 19 April Early Morning Beach Walk
07:00 1½ hours
A walk of about 3 miles early in the morning at low tide, along the West Wittering shoreline at the entrance to Chichester Harbour and around the beautiful sandy beach and dune area of East Head. Optional breakfast afterwards at Russells Nursery, on the Birdham Road from 9am. Perhaps extend your stay further and go on the solar boat trip from Itchenor at 11am (See page x for booking details).
Meet: by church of St Peter and St Paul, Pound Road, West Wittering. Roadside parking by the church or along the A286 between the pub and village shops.

Wed 23 April Sandy Point Nature Reserve

A stroll around Sandy Point on Hayling Island to welcome returning spring migrant birds and to look for early flowering plants. With Hampshire County Council's Countryside Rangers (tel. 02392 476411).
Meet: entrance to Sandy Point Nature Reserve, Seafarers' Walk, off Sandy Point Road, Hayling Island. Roadside parking.
Wed 23 April Two Harbours' History Club: Archaeology Walk

For history enthusiasts of Chichester and Pagham Harbours. This evening we welcome guest speaker Ian Friel, who will be leading a shoreline walk and talk on archaeology. Paths may be muddy. Bring along any local artefacts you would like to share with the group. No dogs please. £3 per person to include refreshments.
