Information about West Wittering Beach activities

Blue Flag Award

West Wittering Beach is proud to be a Blue Flag Beach with its associated high standards of cleanliness, safety and public information.

Disabled Access

Limited to a steep concrete ramp by windsurf club. Wheelchairs should be all-terrain. Access elsewhere is made extremely difficult due to shifting sand and pebbles.

West Wittering Beach HutsDog Walking

From May to September, dogs are excluded from the main swimming beach between groynes numbered 14a to 18, which broadly corresponds to the area in front of the line of beach huts. Dogs are welcome on the whole beach during the rest of the year. Owners are expected to clear up after their pets – bags and dog bins are provided – and to keep them under control at all times. Remember not to leave dogs locked in cars on warm days.

Horse Riding

From May to September, for everyone’s safety, horse riding on the beach is restricted to before 9.00am and after 6.00pm. It is always sensible to choose to ride at low tide. The loading and unloading of horse-boxes and trailers from the car park is never permitted.

Beach Huts

The 156 Beach Huts are mainly privately owned. Huts are sometimes sold by sealed bid and a mailing list for interested purchasers is held in the estate office. There is a small annual administration charge for this service.

Kitesurfing and Windsurfing at West Wittering Beach Water sports

No launching of motorised craft is allowed.

Windsurfing and Kitesurfing

From March to October, windsurfing from the beach is restricted to members of the West Wittering Windsurf Club only. Kitesurfing is restricted to WWWC members throughout the year. Board hire, tuition and rescue service available. See www.2xs.co.uk for details or telephone 01243 513077.

Kitebuggying

The season runs from mid-September to the end of April only. All pilots must be members of West Wittering Buggy Club. Details from Mark Hoyland.
