West Wittering Estate is situated on the
West Sussex coast approximately 8 miles south of Chichester and
therefore within easy reach of London.
We are primarily a conservation company which owns a magnificent
stretch of sandy beach backed by an area of undeveloped grassland.
This is bordered by saltmarsh and areas of reeds and the whole
has spectacular views to the South Downs to the north and the
Solent to the south. To the west the estate adjoins The National
Trusts East Head with its sand dunes and marram grass. We
are proud that we have maintained the natural beauty of the area
for 50 years.
At low tide, when a ¼ of a mile of sand is exposed, a
shallow lagoon of calm water forms across the beach. Sandbanks
and tidal pools are a feature, as are the beach huts which stand
against the tamarisk hedges.
This area is well known for its soft light and it is equally
spectacular during a peaceful sunset or with rough seas during
a storm.
Many film location companies have already discovered the benefits
of using this area for both filming and stills shoots and the
company is able to offer support in several ways. There is ample
parking and toilet facilities and in addition we are able to supply
overnight storage and security. We also have suitable vehicles
for moving equipment to and from the beach and are willing to
discuss how we might help in other ways.
