In order to have a safe and peaceful day on the beach and its surroundings please remember:-
Children
Do know where your children are at all times – consider using the Childsafe Band Scheme. Details available from the Lifeguards
- Do give them a groyne number or landmark to return to – the beach looks very large from the water’s edge
- Do reapply high SP Factor Sunscreen at regular intervals even on cooler days
- Do advise a lifeguard or any other uniformed employee immediately a child goes missing

Swimming
- Do obey “no swimming flags” – red for dangerous currents, black and white chequered for the wind- and kite-surf launch area
- Do be aware of the state of the tide which can change currents and the depth of water quickly
- Do treat the sea with caution -
- Don’t swim by red flag – indicates dangerous currents
- Don’t use inflatables when there is an offshore wind
- Don’t climb on or jump from manmade structures
- Don’t dive in shallow water
- Don’t swim immediately after eating or at all after drinking alcohol
Litter
- Do use the bins provided for rubbish – glass and plastic on the beach can harm sea-life, grazing animals, the environment and people – for more information visit the Marine Conservation Society website on www.mcsuk.org
Barbecues
- Do use and dispose of them safely – extinguish & allow to cool before moving. Do not leave them to be trodden or fallen on
General
- Do check the location map in advance for the Lifeguard Base and First Aid Point
- Do observe dog exclusion zone
- Do be considerate of other beach users
- Don’t launch from or land boats or any motorised craft on beach
